District and the Campus Work to Boost Taihu Bay Technological Belt

A delegation led by Ma Liang, Secretary of Wuxi Binhu District Party Committee, came to SEU Wuxi Campus on a cooperative tour on March 11.

At the meeting that followed, they exchanged talks regarding the district economy, the 2nd phase of campus construction project, and their plans to promote their partnership in respects of government support, industries, education and research, in the presence of representatives from SEU’s Graduates School, Architecture School and Automation School, and SEU Wuxi Campus leaders including the Party Committee Secretary Wang Qiang and the Executive Vice President Prof. Zhang Jiwen. He said, following the guidelines of high-level, internationalization, localization, and distinctiveness, the campus is now running 4 educational programs around subjects of electronics, information science, instrument science, and cyber security, a global program launched with Belgium based KU Leuven, with dialogues being conducted with RWTH Aachen University of Germany. In the near future, the current research directions will be expanded to areas engaging biomedicine, digital design and intelligent manufacturing, robotics engineering.


Prof. Zhang expressed his gratitude for the support given by the district in the course of the campus development. He said, to collaboratively push forward the advancement of Taihu Bay Technological Belt campaign, the campus will actively develop dialogues with world-class universities, jointly establish R&D centers with businesses, for technological transfer, help improve the influence in high-tech fields such as biomedicine, digital design, intelligent manufacturing.



The district secretary Ma Liang praised the campus in his speaking, for its accomplishment it made in talent training, scientific research, international explorations which also gave an impetus to the city’s economic and social development, over the past 30 years. He expressed the hope that the two sides will continue to deepen and expand areas and levels of cooperation and jointly facilitate win-win collaboration. [Photo from Wuxi News]


Ma pointed out that the district is home to a large number of superior scientific and technological institutions, including Southeast University Wuxi Campus, which provides a solid foundation for deepening innovation-driven development and Taihu Bay Technological Belt initiative. Now, as one of the important role in the industrial development pattern the district has been planning, the area where the campus is situated will be forged into a cluster of science highlighting top-notch creations.


Many of the superior majors of SEU Wuxi Campus, the district secretary emphasized, are highly consistent with the development priorities of district industries, so there are much prospect for the two sides to be bonded. And he said his great hope to deepen their mutual cooperation in the following ways.


Firstly, the district promises to give firm support to the 2nd phase of campus construction, and hoped the campus to diversify its subjects according to the demands of the district and the city.


Second, to enhance their cooperative efforts in respect of production-learning-research explorations, which involve joint development of key technologies, technological transfer, further integration between resources of the university and local enterprises and connection of the educational value chain, talent value chain and industry value chain.


The district will provide various support for universities in this area to bring in top-notch talented people and cutting-edge scientific discoveries from around the globe.


Finally, the secretary concluded his keynote speech with the hope to extend their current cooperative areas to town and country planning.
