The Beginning of Spring
It seems the cute cygnets also notice the first signs of Spring which offer promise of new life and warmer, lighter days, and start exploring their new exciting world around their beautiful and elegant parents' perimeter.
Today, in the clear water of our Phoenix Roosting Lake, 6 baby swans that take on that light grey, fluffy appearance look so appealing to onlookers. The hatchlings, which may turn up to feed or clean themselves and generally stay as a group are just so adorable and lovely.

Originally, we had just a pair of black swans enlivening the lake like mascots of our campus, but now, our mascot family becomes much bigger with the 6 youngsters. The number of 6 (the corresponding Chinese character is "六", read "Liu" in Chinese pinyin), in Chinese numerology, is actually considered an auspicious representation based on the sounds the number makes when said aloud, which is associated with ease, fortune and smooth. So Chinese tend to say "六六大顺 (read "Liu Liu Da Shun" in Chinese pinyin)" in celebration of some occasions, which means everything will be going smoothly.
2020 is a hard year for you and for us. We do not only wish our community but also all of you to be "六六大顺" in the coming new year.
