Highlights: Students Round Out Competitions with Impressive Performance

01.  The 4th Chinese FPGA Design Competition


On 5-6 December, the 4th edition of National FPGA Contest was held in Chinese Nanjing. The Yolo algorithm based detection for SMT solder joints project by three postgraduates from SEU Wuxi Campus instructed by Prof. Guangbin Dou and Associate Prof. Longbing He, came first and another SEU Wuxi team received a third prize with the FPGA based smart temperature monitoring project.


The yearly event is mainly organized by Chinese Institute of Electronics, the principal objective of which is to promote the research and development environment in China in the digital system design especially around the direction of programmable logic device (PLD) so that number of opportunities can be generated on this field.

02.  Integrated Circuit EDA Elite Challenge


SEU Wuxi Campus students showcased their talent and won prizes during the annual 2nd Integrated Circuit EDA Elite Challenge held in Nanjing, China to come up with ideas on IC related issues on 27-29 November.


Three Microelectronics Engineering students from SEU Wuxi Campus took home the top spot through their matrix-vector for high-performance computing project in this competition run by the Chinese Institute of Electronics, which helps stimulate the innovative thinking and research from university students around electronic information.

In addition, there was one other team bagging the 2nd prize and four more teams obtaining the 3rd ones.   


03.  Embedded Chip and System Design Competition   Intelligent Internet Innovation Competition


Three graduate students from the Campus have emerged winners for the smart vehicle controlled via the bluetooth technology in a Chinese embedded chip and system level competition among universities in the country opened on 25-27 November.


The moving objects tracker project wrapped up the runner-up prize while other three projects on face tracking vehicle, wireless temperature data logger, color grab and car reversing brought back 3rd awards.

04.  17th “Huawei Cup” National Post-Graduate Mathematical Modeling Contest


The event is a part of the Chinese Postgraduate Innovation Series 2020 run by China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center.


About 14436 groups of students from nationwide universities participated in the competition that started on 17-21 September. And 16 teams advanced to the final runs and get scores, of which 6 included into the 2nd prize list and 9 rated the 3rd position.
