The 4th IEEE International Conference on Signal and Image Processing (ICSIP 2019) was held in SEU, Wuxi, from July 19 to 21.

The conference, which was hosted by Akinori Ito, professor from Tohoku University (Northeast University of Japan) started with an opening speech by Professor Li Bing representing SEU, Wuxi.

Keynote reports around subjects, covering biometrics, in-depth learning and recognition, signal processing, image processing, were made by experts and scholars, including David Zhang of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), Wu Xiaolin from McMaster University in Canada, Lap-Pui Chau of Nanyang University of Technology in Singapore, Peng Linning, Associate Professor of the Cyberspace Security School of SEU, Yannick Benezet, who comes from University of Burgundy, and Jimmy Liu representing Southern University of Science and Technology.

There were other 18 themed parallel sessions held towards the topics incorporating multimedia signal processing, network, fixed network, communication theory and technology, wireless network, information security, computer aided design tools, hardware security, etc. Every branch venue had its best report picked out and awarded in the end.

A total of 6 SEU (Wuxi) postgraduates were admitted to give presentations, and among them, Li Zheng and Dan Fukui, won the best report prizes at their respective session. In his paper Racing APUF: a Novel APUF against Machine Learning Attack with High Reliability, Li Zheng proposed an improved Racing APUF, which could maintain desirable stability with adversarial attack ability.

The 206 were selected out of 312 papers with the peer review taken, which would be included into the conference paper collection and submitted to the IEEE Xplore. It is reported that all the articles collected by ICSIP in the first three years got retrieved by Ei Core and Scopus after taken into the IEEE Xplore.

ICSIP aims to provide a platform for participants to discuss the latest research results and future research directions in signal and image processing, as well as hardware security. At the same time, ICSIP is initiated to strengthen ties for exchanges and sharing among countries, academia and industries, governmental and non-governmental organizations. So far, three events have been staged on, with more than 180 experts and scholars present.
