The speech of Georges was said to be very inspiring and interesting. Georges predicted in his speaking a technological revolution on the way could be faster driven by the advancing nano-electronics and semiconductor areas. A couple of upcoming application scenarios such as the Internet of Things, cloud services, industry 4.0, precision agriculture, etc were depicted in his enlightening talking. A point in his words was particularly expressed that we could not just consider the performance but more of the costs, power and reliability factors about the electronic circuits design section.
Georges Gielen received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven), Leuven, Belgium, in 1986 and 1990, respectively. In 1990, he was a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant and a Visiting Lecturer with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, CA, USA. Since 1991, he has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering (ESAT), KU Leuven, where he is currently a Full Professor. His research interests include the design of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, and especially in analog and mixed-signal CAD tools and design automatio
