With these supportive measures, as he pointed out, the campus got to act its encouraging role in improving its educational and academic practices of its uniqueness and committing its part in the national and regional industrial upgrading and progress.

Now, it will surely, added the President, do something even bigger so as to back up this city. He raised three requirements for the Wuxi campus. The campus was hoped to function in its typical way for a “High-level, Internationalized, Localized and Distinctive” existence, a vigorous constituent part concentrating on the local economy and the local smart city, intelligent manufacturing strategies as well as the “China Chip” and “Intelligent Manufacturing from China” initiatives, and a specialized institution of high internationality. It should breathe the same air with the city, be active in strengthening ties with industrial forces in the area and bringing in more projects for them.

Zhu Aixun, deputy mayor of Wuxi, speaks highly of the gains SEU and its Wuxi campus achieved in the educational, research and internationalization areas since its establishment in 1988. A promise is made to help the campus grow with the local resources and make it a Enterprise-University-Research pattern to follow. In return, he emphasized, the government wishes to have more resources of SEU’s teaching, R&D and technology transfer areas. [Photo by SEU Wuxi Campus]

SEU Wuxi Campus, which started in April 1988 in Wuxi, is one of the four major campuses of the prestigious Southeast University. SEU and the City of Wuxi partner in a variety of initiatives focused on supporting Wuxi’s growth as a thriving technical city with all the local business vitality.

Over the recent years, the campus has been accorded the status of being a campus of international concentration and is working towards becoming one of the most distinctive campuses known for its bold explorations in “High-level, Internationalization, Localization and Distinctiveness” areas. More focus will be given to forging more partnerships with world’s top 100 institutions or universities possessing disciplines ranked top 30th by utilizing the knowledge across disciplines of SEU and sectors in collaboration with local knowledge-intensive organizations and businesses and supportive policies and funds from the local government. It will develop dialogues and collaboration with the best universities in the world, businesses, public organizations and other relevant players in order to expand a high-calibre international system embracing 2 to 4 union colleges, and 2 to 3 important research and educational facilities working on the international, national and regional most recent industrial issues, such as the micro-nano processing and testing platform, and high-end chips & micro information systems. We will also work to attract more academicians, professors and industry experts to teach and conduct academic studies at the campus.
