Conference held to promote building SEU international campus

The promotion conference for Southeast University and Wuxi Municipal Government to discuss their important endeavors to collaboratively establish a national demonstrative school of microelectronics, SEU-KU Leuven joint school and declare and found SEU international campus was hosted on October 24, in the presence of Zhang Guangjun, president of SEU and Wuxi Mayor Huang Qin.

President Zhang Guangjun firstly showed his thanks for the positive support provided by Wuxi Municipal Party Committee and government for SEU Wuxi campus. Zhang promised that SEU will help vigorously propel the city’s industrial progress by producing more top talents with global perspectives in micro-electronics and chips.  


SEU, as Zhang put it, will keep on promoting the university-government cooperation in three main aspects. Firstly, SEU expects to see its international campus established in Wuxi as soon as possible and more agreements reached with such world leading universities as KU Leuven to collaboratively cultivate IC elites in the city. Second, he hoped Wuxi could continue its great support in policies and capital so as to attract more accomplished people to settle down in the city for teaching, and doing research. Finally, President Zhang Guangjun said, the school wanted the government to play an active role in guaranteeing its normal running before transferred to the new campus and dispatch a team to help with the SEU new campus construction as well.

Wuxi Mayor Huang Qin said the new round of collaboration between Wuxi and SEU is highly valued and the local government will show its solid support for the school to forge ahead into a 5000-student campus enjoying a certain autonomy in its human management, finance and assets. The Mayor hoped more talents educating or educated in SEU to put down roots in Wuxi  focus on leveraging its institutional advantage and seeking cooperation with world leading universities such as KU Leuven more consistent and institutionalized rule of law to upgrade its growth model and build a high-standard and open economic system.
